Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

PawnPilot (the “Service”) is operated from Georgia (“PawnPilot”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (the “Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

These Terms incorporate our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy by reference.

2. The service

PawnPilot provides AI-assisted chess analysis, coaching, puzzle training, opening exploration, and repertoire tools. Features, limits, and pricing may change, be added, or be removed over time as the Service evolves.

Chess.com and Lichess are independent third-party platforms. PawnPilot is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by either, and your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms. The Stockfish chess engine runs locally in your browser to analyse the games you choose.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old (and, in the EU/EEA, meet your country’s minimum age of digital consent) and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for all activity under your account, and for keeping your credentials secure. Notify us at support@pawnpilot.io if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.

4. Trials, subscriptions, and billing

• Free trial. New accounts include a 7-day trial that requires no payment method. When the trial ends, access pauses until you subscribe; you are never charged for the trial itself.
• Paid plans. Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or yearly, depending on the plan you choose). Current pricing is shown on the pricing page.
• Payment processing. Subscriptions are sold and processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Your purchase is also subject to Paddle’s buyer terms, and Paddle appears as the seller on your payment record.
• Renewals. Paid plans renew automatically at the then-current price until you cancel. We will notify you of material price changes before they take effect.
• Cancellation. You may cancel at any time. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy and applicable consumer-protection law.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to extract the source code or data of the Service, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by law;
• resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission;
• circumvent, disable, or interfere with usage limits, security, or authentication controls;
• upload unlawful content or use the Service to infringe others’ rights;
• disrupt or place an unreasonable load on the Service or its infrastructure.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Your content

You retain ownership of the game data, PGN, repertoires, and other content you provide (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display Your Content solely to operate and improve the Service for you. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to import and use any content you submit.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, branding, and the “PawnPilot” name and logo, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. Except for the rights expressly granted to you here, no rights are transferred to you.

8. Third-party services

The Service integrates with third parties such as Chess.com, Lichess, Paddle, OpenAI (which powers the AI coach), and our hosting and email providers. We are not responsible for the availability, content, or practices of third-party services, and your use of them may be subject to their own terms.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law. Chess analysis, evaluations, and coaching are provided for training and entertainment; we do not warrant that they are accurate, uninterrupted, or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, PawnPilot and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including your mandatory consumer rights.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PawnPilot and its operator from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms or of applicable law.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and permanently delete your account from Profile settings inside the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if required to protect the Service or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including sections 6–11 and 13) will survive.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Georgia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Georgia have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
